    COD Ghost Tweaks

Here are some config tweaks to help smooothin the game

This 1st post in thread is kept updated.
Instead of using Depth of Field, turn it off, then set seta r_depthPrepass "Near" in your config file. This will blur only the distant things. As a result FPS stays higher.

The most important things to notice below here are marked by a green asterisk *.

    Advanced Video Menu
Aspect Ratio: Set to your display's aspect.
Screen Refresh Rate: Set to your display's refresh rate.
Sync Every Frame: No. A frame rate limiter setting can be used for restricting FPS.
Image Quality: * Extra looks best, and is recommended with the other settings in this post.
Depth of Field: No. Set seta r_depthPrepass "Near" in your config file instead.
Screen Space Ambient Occlusion: * HBAO+ or High.
    Terrain Detail: Extra looks best.
Anisotropic Filtering: Low may keep your fps from dropping a lot when suddenly facing an enemy.
    Motion Blur: No or Yes.
Distortion: Yes or No. This does not seem to impede performance significantly.
Antialiasing: * FXAA is fastest, the next fastest ones are 1x SMAA, 2x MSAA, 4x MSAA, 2x TXAA, 4x TXAA.
Shadows: * Yes. Provides FPS consistency because it gives lots of GPU-usage.
Texture Quality: * Manual, so you can individually set the next 4 things.
    Texture Resolution: High.
    Normal Map Resolution: High.
    Specular Map Resolution: High.
Water Map Resolution: High or Low.

    Config File
The game's config file can be accessed and some things can be modified to speed up the performance of multiplayer.
It is at "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Call of Duty Ghosts\players2\config_mp.cfg"

seta cg_chatHeight "4" Default is "3". This determines the number of lines in the chat message area.
seta cg_chatTime "14000" Default is "1200". Time chat stays on screen before disappearing.
seta cl_maxPing " " Default is 800, and may actually be the best choice. Some may say to decrease this a bit if you want a better-pinging server.
seta cl_packetdup " " The default value is 2. A value of 5 may help aggressive players, and a value of 0 may help the snipers.
seta r_autopriority "0" This is the default value.
seta r_depthPrepass "Near" Use this as an alternative to Depth of Field.
    seta r_displayMaxHeight " "
    seta r_displayMaxWidth " "
    seta r_elevatedPriority "0" * There's a noticeable improvement by having this on 0.
seta r_distortion "1" Yes will give more GPU-usage, and won't affect performance much.
seta r_dlightLimit "4" This is default.
seta r_dof_enable "0" This will improve performance having it off.
seta r_fog "0" Off may give a bit more performance.
seta r_tessellation "1_Near" This is what it will be when Terrain Detail is set to Normal in the game menu.
seta r_texFilterAnisoMax " " Anisotropic Filtering maximum value.
seta r_texFilterAnisoMin " " Anisotropic filtering minimum value.
seta sm_enable "0" For more performance.

    Game Performance Analysis
    1) Shadows should be on and Ambient Occlusion should be maxed. A significant amount of GPU-usage is hard-coded-reserved for those features. Your graphics card will feel under-utilized without them on.
    2) Anisotropic Filtering and Texture Resolution should be lower than max to avoid a lag-stagger when suddenly facing an enemy.
    3) FXAA and 1x SMAA (better-looking of the two) are the AA choices which feel like they're the most efficiently handled by the game engine. MSAA and TXAA (worse-lagged of the two) feel heavy and delayed.
    4) Frame Rate Limiter settings (such as found in NVidia Inspector) can help sometimes in achieving FPS-consistency when the FPS is limited to values of 62 FPS or 75 FPS. By default NVidia Inspector doesn't have the value for 62, but you can manually add it in Inspector's CustomSettingNames file. The hex value for 62 is 0xF000003E.
    5) Alternative tweak method: Set seta r_elevatedPriority "1" in your config file, turn off Shadows and Ambient Occlusion, then max out everything else. Elevated "1" is not very compatible with Shadows and Ambient.
    6) There are some times during the day when the usual tweaks aren't working, perhaps because of who is being chosen as host. At those times, undo the tweaks, turn off the frame rate limiting, and max everything out. The game will play good again.

    NVidia Specific
In NVidia Control Panel, the Power Management Mode may be better for you if it's set to Adaptive.

    Firewall
In Windows 8.1, by default, your Windows Firewall may not be set to allow communication to the public network.

    Problems/Resolutions
    - * SLI flickering can be stopped by setting SLI to SFR with NVidia Inspector. NVidia is probably still waiting for the game developer to provide them with the SLI-heuristics so they can update the driver.
    - * Microsoft released an update that corrects mouse input problems for games, including Ghosts, on Windows 8.1. You can get the update here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2908279
    - There may be be an audio conflict between the AMD on board HDMI audio and the game. The AMD HDMI audio can be disabled in Device Manager. There may be a conflict with motherboard onboard audio as well.
